Glaciers

Explored the Columbia and Shoup Glaciers near Valdez.  Spotted black bears and mountain goats along the way and chased a few waterfalls. 

 

Salmon Fishing

Spent the day silver salmon fishing out of Valdez.  Saw several humpback whales and a huge herd of sea lions.  Caught lots of silver salmon as well as a quillback rockfish.  

Alaska Adventure

I’ve returned to Alaska for a 10 day RV camping trip with my oldest nephew. Autumn has arrived with the landscape painted in reds and yellows. We’re heading east to Valdez for fishing and glacier explorations then driving north to the interior to visit Denali and Fairbanks. 

Innsbruck

Visited Old Town in Innsbruck, Austria taking in the sights and sounds of classical music being performed live in the square. Returned to Axamer Lizum ski resort where I learned to snow ski 36 yrs ago.  The slopes were even steeper than I remember and mountain views were out of this world!  

Dolomites Encore

Traveled north to explore the Dolomites a bit more basing near Lake Misurina.  Hiked to the breathtaking Lago Sorapis with its unique baby blue colored water and explored the peaks and pinnacles around Tre Cime.  Revisited a few sites from our Alta Via hike before heading to Austria.
